Three named species were described (Delapparentia turolensis, Camarillasaurus cirugedae and Gideonmantellia amosanjuanae). The formation has also yielded indeterminate remains of a titanosauriform, a spinosaurid, a nodosaur.
Why so formation-specific after you had Scelidosaurus, Cetiosaurus and Baryonyx on one picture? I was hoping for "Dinosaurs of Spain" so this could include Pelecanimimus and Concavenator.
I can do that too...but as in the Dinosaurs of the British Isles, I will have to leave out many interesting critters... trying out a few formats to see which one would be the most educational as well as the most popular...
I absolutely love this concept of putting dinosaurs together from their formation! Incredibly useful for a quick glance at what to put in a composition! Also your art is getting better and better, these look really great!
Thank you! This requires a bit of research and choice (what to include, what not to include...). Hypsilophodon is often cited to be present in the Camarillas fm but all the remains I could trace in the literature were redescribed as Gideonmantellia... Mantellisaurus, Pleurocoelus, an indeterminate spinosaur are also cited as being present in the fauna. At first I wanted to include more than dinosaurs (crocs, mammals, plants, ...) but that turn out to be a bit more work (plus it is difficult to put the mammals, turtles and lizards on the same scale than the dinosaurs).
West Africa? I know of dinosaurs in South Africa, East Africa (Tanzania) and North Africa (Niger, Morocco, Algeria, Egypt) but can't point to any dino named from a country in West Africa. Do you know any?
